The Department of Dermatology, Hospital Sultan Ismail Johor Bahru first started its services on 17th<\/sup> July 2008. Full services 5 times a week with an in-house dermatologist began since 1st<\/sup> January 2009.<\/p>\n

The Department of Dermatology is located at Level Two, Hospital Sultan Ismail Johor Bahru. Dermatology Daycare procedures are performed in the Dermatological Procedure Room at Level Two. Dermatology in-patient beds are available at Ward 9B.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mission<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. To provide curative and diagnostic services on skin diseases, sexually transmitted diseases (STD) and leprosy.<\/li>\n
  2. To reduce the incidence, prevalence, morbidity and mortality of skin diseases, sexually transmitted diseases and leprosy.<\/li>\n
  3. To increase patient participation in the management of their condition by health education activities and counseling.<\/li>\n
  4. Continuous medical education in Dermatology for medical officers and paramedics.<\/li>\n
  5. To participate actively in research in the Dermatology Field.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        • Waiting time for appointment <<\/u> 2 weeks for new non-urgent cases<\/li>\n
        • Waiting time to be seen by doctor <<\/u> 90 minutes (from appointment time)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          1. We will deliver these services in a comfortable and client-friendly environment for both our in patients and outpatients.<\/li>\n

            Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n

            1. The Head of Department and Dermatology Specialist is in-charge of the departmental activities and services provided.<\/li>\n
            2. The Dermatologist is in-charge of all patients in the wards, including referral cases.<\/li>\n
            3. The dermatologist is in-charge of the clinic sessions.<\/li>\n
            4. He\/she shall be assisted by medical officers and paramedics.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              1. Provide outpatient care to all new cases and follow up cases.<\/li>\n
              2. Provide total patient care to all skin patients in the ward.<\/li>\n
              3. Provision of a 24-hour service for discussion or referral of emergency cases in dermatology, eg. severe adverse cutaneous drug reactions.<\/li>\n
              4. Management and surveillance of STDs.<\/li>\n
              5. Management and surveillance of leprosy.<\/li>\n
              6. Provision of diagnostic services for dermatology and STDs.<\/li>\n
              7. Provision of dermatosurgery, eg. cautery and excision biopsies.<\/li>\n
              8. Provision of patch testing for contact dermatitis and cryotherapy.<\/li>\n
              9. Provision of phototherapy.<\/li>\n
              10. Provision of patient education and counseling.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                4. Trichloroacetic acid application<\/li>\n
                5. Intralesional Triamcilolone acetonide injection for keloids, etc<\/li>\n
                6. Phenol prick for molluscum contagiosum<\/li>\n
                7. Skin biopsy<\/li>\n
                8. Suture removal if necessary<\/li>\n
                9. Phototherapy twice a week<\/li>\n
                10. Electrocautery<\/li>\n
                11. Wet Wraps<\/li>\n
                12. Skin scraping \/ nail clippings for fungal culture<\/li>\n
                13. Woods Lamp examination<\/li>\n
                14. Patch Test<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
