DEPARTMENT INTRODUCTION

The Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom serves as a referral center for: KK Mengkibol, KKIA Jalan Sultanah, KK Kahang Timur, KK Kahang Barat, KK Kahang Batu 22, KK Layang-Layang, KK Paloh, KK Renggam, KK Simpang Renggam, and KK Ulu Belitong.

The hospital also accepts cases from private clinics, maternity centers, and private hospitals that require further treatment and detailed care. With facilities such as ICU, NICU, and fully operational operating theaters, the hospital ensures comprehensive and thorough care.

Reducing morbidity and mortality among mothers and babies during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period; delivering meticulous, comprehensive care (including gynecology); and ensuring ongoing staff training to improve quality.

1) Antenatal Care
  • Patient Admission Center (PAC)
  • Inpatient antenatal care
  • Management of high-risk obstetric cases in the High Dependency Unit (HDU)
2) Maternity Facilities
  • Ensuring safe births
  • Support for mother-friendly and husband-friendly birth practices
  • Provision of Epidural in Labour (ELA) in collaboration with the Anesthesiology Department
  • Performing elective caesarean sections twice a week
  • Performing emergency caesarean sections daily
3) Postnatal Treatment
  • Maternal care after delivery
  • Family planning counselling
  • Postpartum IUCD services
  • Lactation counselling and breastfeeding support
4) Neonatal Care
  • Neonatal immunization services after delivery
  • Support for breastfeeding policies and early initiation of breastfeeding
  • Baby-friendly care
  • Referral of neonatal cases to the Pediatric Department as indicated
  • Room-in for low-risk babies under Pediatric supervision (baby lodger in postnatal ward)
