INTRODUCTION

Orthopaedic Department was established since the old Kluang Hospital is operational in 2004. Our services were initially led by a foreigner orthopaedic surgeon. In 2011 our services were transferred along with other medical and surgical services to the new hospital. In 2012 our Orthopaedic Department received a local surgeon to lead the service.

Orthopaedic Department provide services which are related to musculoskeletal diseases. Trauma and musculoskeletal infections are the core cases managed in our department.

Advancement in orthopaedic field has led to the development of subspecialty unit. Management of complex cases will result in better and effective surgical outcome.

CLIENT CHARTER

  • Patient is seen in orthopaedic clinic after pre-planned procedure within 75 minutes.
  • Patients have low rate of infection in elective surgery.
  • Patients have safe surgery with low rate of sepsis post-operatively.
  • Patient are treated with kindness, compassion, respect and courtesy.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • The main function of the ward is to provide facilities for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, nursing care, surgical intervention and rehabilitation of acutely ill patients.
  • The male ward has been designed to accommodate Orthopaedic patients. However, male orthopaedic ward can also accommodate patient from other discipline if beds are needed.
  • The female ward is a multidisciplinary surgical based female ward and allocations of bed will be determined by the overall ward load.
  • The general acute ward shall be used primarily for single sex purposes and incorporates first, second- and third-class patients. The single bedded rooms may be used for patients requiring isolation.
  • The overall care of patients in the orthopaedic wards shall be under the responsibility of a consultant or specialist.
  • Provision of health education and counselling for all patients.
  • The treatment is provided 24 hours a day for in-patient.
  • Follow up appointment should be given upon discharge and in the event where this is not feasible, the staff will call the patient and inform the date.
