INTRODUCTION

The department of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (ORL) began service as a unit in 2012 upon the opening of the new Hospital premises in Jalan Kota Tinggi. The department has provided the services of a full-time in-house ORL specialist since January 2022. Our department consists of 3 ORL specialists, 5 Medical Officers (MO), 3 Medical Assistants, 1 Audiologist, 1 Speech Therapists and 2 PPKs (Pembantu Perawatan Kesihatan).

Our department clinic, audiology lab and speech therapist office are in Aras 3, Klinik Pakar 2.

DEPARTMENT’S OBJECTIVE

  • To provide specialized otorhinolaryngology and support services including audiology and speech-language therapy to all patients.
  • To ensure that the waiting time to see a doctor is less than 90 minutes.
  • To establish the correct diagnosis and provide optimal care to the patient.
  • To provide continuous medical education to all medical and health staffs to improve their performance and status of existing services.
  • To create leadership roles and applying values of corporate culture and noble values among employees while performing their duties.
  • To provide comfortable, clean, and safe facilities and environment for all patients.

CLIENT CHARTER

  • All clients will be warmly welcomed, honored and attended to their needs.
  • Client will be directly involved in the discussion of his / her health problems, procedures and treatments provided including alternative treatments, as well as health education related to the disease problem.
  • All health information and client care will be kept confidential, and this is always the priority of departmental services.
  • All patients will have pain assessment and appropriate management will be given promptly.
  • All complaints received will be given due attention and immediate action.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Provide comprehensive care for patients with ear, nose, throat, head and neck diseases using up-to-date diagnostic and therapeutic tools.
  • Provide audiology services which include screening, prevention, diagnosis and rehabilitation of hearing and peripheral vestibular disorders.
  • Provide speech and language therapy services for those with speech and language, communication, voice, feeding and swallowing disorders.
  • Perform ORL surgical services for emergency and elective cases.
  • Provide training services to medical officers and paramedics.
  • Provide Daycare services for minor operations requiring local anaesthesia (LA) to patients.
  • Provide ORL sleep services.
  • Provide networking and Hospital Kluster Johor Barat ORL services.
  • Participate in quality and research activity.
